Q: What is the difference between Mediterranean diet and DASH diet?

I have High Blood Pressure, Hypothyroid and pre diabetes. Doctor said either Mediterranean or DASH might help. I should also lose 80 lbs.

Does DASH give you real results or is it kind of like Fasting; you lose weight but doesn't last.  I guess what I mean is it a real result or just a temporary thing? 

 

Do you eat the same foods?  On Mediterranean Diet as you do DASH?  Or are they completely different?

 

Which do you suggest to be the best.

No, the DASH diet is something you follow long term and it provides long term results. DASH diet is high in fruits/vegetables. Mediterranean diet emphasizes heart healthy fats. (There's more to each diet, but that gives you basic difference.) Since your doctor is letting you pick which you want to follow, I recommend the DASH Diet.
