Is high blood pressure connected with getting older?

I am 62yrs old.I am a sportsman,american of egyptian origin residing at  the moment in egypt for certain circumestsnce,normaly with low blood pressure.One day felt some pain in my neck,doctor prescribed moduretic treatment,another doctor said over 60 years a blood pressure of 140-150/100-90 is normal.Which doctor can I beleive?

Hi Omaya,

 

Yes, arteries harden as a normal process of aging.  Hardened arteries make it more difficult for your heart to deliver oxygenated blood to your organs and is linked to a gradual rise in blood pressure.

 

The does not mean you should accept high blood pressure as "par for the course".  By this I mean, you can counteract the effects of aging by following a heart healthy diet and being physically active to maintain a normal blood pressure.
