I thought cozaar and lisinopril were the same.

Mom has taken cozaar for many years. She switched to Lisinopril for cost purposes and complains of feeling drunk and unsteady. I thought it was a generic for Cozaar.

Hi Sue,
The generic name for cozaar is losartan. Cozaar is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist and lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor. They both work to lower blood pressure, but in two different ways. I recommend discussing her symptoms with her physician to determine if an adjustment needs to be made to her medication.
