Q: Very High Blood Pressure

My husband's Blood Pressure is very high.  It's been like this for a while.  He is taken Lisonoprel 40mg.  Excersizing normal and eating right.  But BP is very high.  BP reading is in the 140/80 to the 160/90.  What can he do to lower the BP and what can i do help him.  He is always in the ER and they say that he is fine.

What can my Husband do?

Hi Wife Need Answers,

First step would be to bump up the activity.  If he's exercising 3 days a week, bump it up to 5.  If he's exercising 30 minutes, bump it up to 60.  The more activity the more result you'll see.

Second step, look at the DASH diet and find ways to implement.  Following the DASH diet can lower blood pressure within 14 days.  You can learn more about the DASH diet here.

Third, add omega 3 fatty acids.  If your husband is not already eating fish regularly and incorporating other sources of omega 3 fatty acids, find ways to increase his intake.  Here's a post where you can learn more:

Fourth, make sure his sodium intake is reduced.  Here's a post with tips:
