Q: does lasix increase creatine level in blood. if so why doctors prescribe for renal patients

my friend is having renal problem  and doctors give him lasix.but someother doctor says lasix would increase creatine level.is it so

Hi Indu,

 

It is possible for lasix to affect creatinine levels.  For individuals with renal problems who are prescribed lasix their physician will typically monitor their lab values more closely and make adjustments to their treatment plan when needed.  I recommend your friend discuss this concern with his physician to make sure he understands the pros/cons of the treatment options available.
