Q: can having high blood pressure that is unattended cause weight gain

In the last 2 months before being diagnosed with high blood pressure, I have gained 8 pounds and have had heart palpitations

Hi Jeanie,


As high blood pressure becomes more severe it can lead to water retention, which results in weight gain.


It's best to work with your MD to determine if your weight gain is related to water retention and high blood pressure or other factors.
