Hi Jim,

Both Diovan and Avapro are angiotensin II receptor antagonists. They both work to keep  blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.  Many times a physician will try combinations of blood pressure medications to determine what will best control an individuals blood pressure.  There is always potential for a drug interaction, but mostlikely low.  I recommend discussing your concerns with your physician.  A pharmacist would be another good resource.

All the best,
