Hi Redstone5650,

Yes, your elevated blood pressure is cause for concern and dangerous for your health. High blood pressure means your heart is exerting increased force as it pumps blood throughout circulation to supply oxygen and nutrients to your cells. This increased pressure causes damage to artery walls and organs. The longer your blood pressure is elevated, the greater the damage.

I recommend you speak to your MD and ask questions. Discuss your blood pressure readings and the medications you are taking. Ask questions until you completely understand your situation and how to best improve your blood pressure readings.

Ideally blood pressure should be less than 120/80. Click here for tips to reduce high blood pressure.

All the best,
