What other high blood pressure medicine can be taken with Clonidine

I am taking  the generic for Toprol (Metoprolol succ er 100 mg) with the clonidine

Carolyn,

 

Thanks for your posted question.  There are dozens of medications that can be combined with your clonidine/and or Metoprolol.  These meds are in different classes of action which include beta blockers (Metoprolol is among them), calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, and diuretics.  Your doctor, who knows your history and physical findings, is most qualified to make decisions concerning which medication you should be taking.  It's not unusual for changes in medication to be necessary as everyone responds differently.  You need to discuss any concerns with your physician, who will take them into consideration when prescribing medication.
