Q: Does anyone know why a 2 month old would have hypertension with healthy organs?

my nephew is 2 months old and is being treated for hypertension.  The doctors have no ideal why his blood pressure is high.  All of tests have come back normal.  His kidney are perfectly healthy, along with his heart and every other organ in his body.  He has a nephrologist studing him, and still the doctors have no ideal.  At the moment he is being treated with Norvasc ( every 12 hours) Lebatalol (every 12 hours) Hydrolazine (as needed) Lasix (every 12 hours).  his blood pressure still runs a little high, sometimes it is around 120/70, even with all the medication in him.  The doctors are frustrated along with the family.  Would anyone have any ideal, or anything that could be tested.  The smallest suggestion would help all of us.  Questions?  feel free to ask.  I also might add that we would have never had figured out that he had high blood pressure if he hadn't been in the Universtiy of Kentuck hospital being treated for Meningitis. Other than the hypertention he is a very healthy boy!!

My best advise is for you to get a second opinion. research about a good doctor who

is a specialist for children, then go see that doctor.  If you can't find a cause by taking

urine and blood sample, then how can you put the kid on drugs? how do you know if that id not just normal for that kid? Did you know some people genetically have high blood pressure? Anyhow, I am not saying these things to make you doubt yourselves or what the Doctor has done, but perhaps to encourage you to see that second doctor and have a second opinion.  Assuming the first Doctor was right and the Kid should be on drugs, then the second opinion may confirm that and you feel better about what you are doing. But what if tyhe second doctor has a dofferent opinion?

Plus, high BP for a kid of that age is not as big of a problem than it is for a man of age 40 or 50. As you said all test came out fine. So what is the reason to freak out like this and put the kid on drugs?  What other symptoms does he have?

If this was my son, I would honesly do a lot of research about what should BP of a kid in that age be?  Can a kid have High BP ( in average ) in such age and still be healthy?

I would research the hell out of this before i put the kid on drugs.
