Q: Would getting a Cortisone shot for bursitus of the hip while on Coumadin be harmful in any way?

Hi Betty,

 

There are potential drug interactions between coumadin and cortisone, such as increased bleeding risk. I recommend discussing fully with your doctor to weigh the pros/cons, determine if you need to adjust your coumadin dosage around the time of the cortisone injection, and what to watch for.
