Q: Why is my blood pressure lower while laying on my right side?

My blood pressure and my pulse have been high for several weeks.  I notice that when I take my pressure lying on my right side it is normal, but when lying on my back it is continually high, 140/94.  Why is it lower when lying on my right side?

I can't tell you exactly why, but I do know that while I was pregnant I had hypertention and when I was in the hospital I had problems with it shooting up really high. Along with meds, the dr had me lay on my right side to help bring my blood pressure down.
