Cathy

Initally, I was thinking it was problem on my eyesight so I went to the optalmologist but he said my eyesight is fine. Aware of hypertension in our famly, I immediately went to the hospital and they found my BP rise to 220/110. They have given me Adol and Tenormin. My BP went down to 176/90. I entrered the hospital around 7 pm. Around 10 pm, they have given me another Tenormin. I was discharged at around 11 PM, with my BP 136/86. The doctor had given me the medicines to take - Tenormin 50 MG once daily, Adalat retard - 2x daily Aspirin and Adol if I have headache. These are my daily BPs. On 12.05.08 220/110 13.05.08 134/88 14.05.08 136/76 15.05.08 102/72 My question is, do I have to take the prescribed medicine continously even my BP is continously going down?

Your blood pressure seemed much improved and is responding to the medication prescribed by your doctor.  If you are experiencing symptoms associated with low blood pressure such as lightheadedness or dizziness, especially upon standing, then you should probably hold off on some of the medication, but please speak to your doctor about which one to stop.  Even if there are no symptoms, as the blood pressure is in the desired range, you might be able to cut back on some of the pills after clarifying this with your doctor.
