Q: when b/p is high heart rate is low and when b/p is low heart rate is high is that normal?

My b/p goes up and down - I started tracking a couple of years ago due to going through menopause and I am estrogen dominate.  Anyway, I have lost 34 pounds and have changed the way I eat which has helped my b/p but sometimes during the month especially when I should have had a period or when my estrogen is high(I can tell because of the racy feeling and I get hot inside my neck etc) - my b/p goes up.  I watch this - but I have noticed what I think is weird - that when my b/p is high like 156/98 my heart rate can be at 64.  And then when I have a more normal b/p reading like 134/76 by heart rate is like 89.  That seems a little odd to me.  I would think that when my b/p is high that my heart would be beating harder and faster to make the blood flow, help me understand.

Thanks

Hi Kim,

Typically, when heart rate increases blood pressure increases and when heart rate decreases, blood pressure decreases.  So, you're right that your situation is not the norm.  Consult you're MD to determine if this is something that needs addressed or not.
