My Doctor has me on 3 blood pressure meds ,and my pressure gones down for a few hours then right back up, i have gained so much weight since i went on this meds also taking Aggrenox  200-25mg, my blood pressure meds are, verapamil 120mg,,,tekturna 300mg once  a day ,, Diovan Hct 160-25 mg tabs once a day,another med i take klor-con 8meq twice a day ,,,,,prevacid  30 mg once a day.,, allopurinol100mg, could this be the reason for weight gain? i am 70 years old,

Thanks Yarda for posting your question.  It woudl be really hard to say if the reason for your weight gain is the medications you are taking.  I'm sure your doctor has offered some thoughts on this - I would be curious what he has to say about it.  You also could consult your pharmacist who could help with side effects and interactions between medications.

 

In the meantime, you may want to take a look at our drug information section to review the precautions and side effects of the medications you are on.  As well, staying fit and eating right are also important in controlling BP and weight.  Take a look at our Lifestyle Choices section for help with diet and exercise for healthy living.
