why is it important to take Coreg with food?

Thanks for your question. 

 

The absorption of Coreg into the bloodstream is much improved if taken with food.  Studies have shown lower blood levels of this drug when taken on an empty stomach.  This is why the manufacturer has provided this direction in Coreg's prescribing information.
