Hello sharrell jones,   The medication you are taking, brand name Dyazide, is a combination of two different drugs called triamterene and HCTZ (HydroChloroThiaZide).     This drug is usually prescribed to people that are prone to retaining fluids, especially in diseases like congestive heart failure and can be used to help treat high blood pressure. They are both in the class of drugs called diuretics, which help to remove excess water in your urine.  They work with different modes of action in the kidney; HCTZ belongs the subclass of diuretic drugs called thiazides, while triamterene belongs to the potassium-sparing subclass.   Hope this helps.   To your health, Neil MD
