Q: when should you seek help with blood pressure reading

Thanks for your question.  The answer to your question is simple:  the sooner the better.  Call for an appointment as soon as possible.  High blood pressure is a problem that should be treated as early as possible to avoid the complications of that can develop with long standing high blood pressure, as well as problems that can occur acutely with very high pressure.  Also remember that high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease, along with family history, diabetes, excessive weight, elevated fats in the blood, and smoking. 

 

 

In addition to seeking treatment, remember that follow-up appointments with your doctor are essential, as is faithfully taking medication that might be prescribed.
