Q: high blood pressure and breastfeeding

are there any blood pressure meds safe to take while breastfeeding? my dr can't seem to find one. the meds i'm on now he told me to wean my baby and they still don't help my  bp

Here are some resources that can help you:

 

1. Your local WIC office - ask to speak with a dietitian/nutrionist about your concerns.

 

2. Lactation consultant - See who is available at your hospital.

 

3. La Leche League - You can search online for contact information.

 

Also, I encourage you to take steps to change your diet and lifestyle to lower blood pressure to reduce the need for medication. Consider the DASH Diet .
