Q: My friend just got dizzy and couldn't stand or walk alone. His left bicep was extremely tight. His blood pressure was 176/100. He says he is okay. What should I do?

He sat down and the tightness let up in his arm, but it is painful. He had a headache when he sat down, but he says it has let up. Is he okay to wait to see a doctor. He takes one blood pressure med in the morning. He is 73 years old.

Hi Donna,

I recommend he contact his physician's office (their is usually a doctor "on call") to discuss this episode and determine if he should seek immediate treatment or schedule an appointment with his physician.

All the best,
