Hello Betsy Fishman,   Not quite.   Diovan HCTZ is a combination of Diovan (generic name valsartan) and hydrochlorothiazide.  Valsartan is a member of the angiotensin receptor blocker family of medications which are often used to help lower blood pressure.  Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (aka water pill)medication, prescribed for helping to remove salts and water from your blood which in turn lowers blood pressure.   Accupril is the brand name of quinapril, which is a member of the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (or ACEI as it is sometimes known) family of drugs.  ACEi's work similarly to the ARBs but they have as a side effect in 10% of people a chronic dry cough.    To your health, Neil MD
