I came to this blog site because almost nothing I have read addresses the problem you mentioned. I have read extensively on BP and hypertension, including alternative treatments. I have been on medications for 15 years and am now working with my doctor to reduce my medications. Most writings seem to assume that BP is a constant thing, but mine can fluctuate 30 to 40 points (systolic) in a few minutes. I was phobic about even reading my own blood pressure, but now I am monitoring it throughout the day on my own.
Even when I was taking my higher doses of meds, I had readings from 160/98 to 79/42 in one day! Now that I have reduced my phobic reaction by frequent readings, and lowered my meds, my BP varies from 155/90 (usually while I am at work or doing something stressful) to a low of 105/65 (usually just before I go to sleep). If my BP is slightly elevated, I can lower it 30 points by deep breathing (5 or 6 breaths per minute, using deep belly breathing) for a minute or two.
I use a device called Zona and the Resperate to help. I don't know if they have any permanent effect, but the Resperate does bring BP down while I am using it. Here are the things that lower my BP naturally: exercise, sex (unbelievable reduction afterwards), deep breathing accompanied with calming thoughts.
I am still trying to find out whether my relevant BP readings are 1) the high readings (2) the low readings or (3) the average. My low readings are quite low, my average readings are normal and my highest readings are in the Stage I hypertension range. No doctor has ever given me a definitive answer to this question.
You may be a good candidate for managing your BP through meditation, exercise and relaxation techniques. If you can manage it this way, it is much better than drugs because I can tell you firsthand that the drugs can have a lot of negative side effects. I would recommend finding a good, sympathetic doctor who will start with alternate treatments before putting you on drugs. Good luck!
