Thanks for your question though I'm not sure I can give you a direct answer.  I can give you the information we have on the drug Altace:   This drug belongs to a group of medications called ACE inhibitors. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.   Maybe it is just logical that if this medication can lower you BP it can help prevent life threatening health issues.   All the best, sue
