Roston Maxie,

Thanks for your question.    Sular, the brand name for nisoldipine, is a new blood pressure medication in a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers.  This class of medication has been in use for over 20 years and has been very effective.  Drug trials for sular, prior to its approval, lasted several weeks to several months and the side effects were similar to other calcium channel blockers.  I'm not aware of, nor have I been able to find, any warnings or articles that describe adverse effects with long term use.  As with any medication, doctors and patients have to weigh risks/side effects to benefits.  If side effects are minimal and tolerable, then the benefits of keeping blood pressure under usually prevail.

I hope this has been useful to you.

Sular (nisoldipine) is one of the class of medicines called calcium channel blockers.  They are mostly used for the treatment of high blood pressure.  They are generally well tolerated medications with few significant long term effects.  They may cause leg edema and should be used cautiously in people congestive heart failure and angina.
