Socialr,

Thanks for your question.

There are several "natural" remedies sold in health foods stores and vitamin shops.  I really can't comment on those, as it would depend on their ingredients.  As far as the three major medications available today (Viagra, Cialis, Lavitra), I can't comment whether it's safe for you to take any of these drugs because only your doctor can advise you on their safety in your particular case, and whether sexual activity is safe for you.

I can comment about a possible interaction between the three prescription drugs (above) used for erectile dysfunction (ED) and the preterax you are presently taking.  Preterax is a combination of an ace inhibitor class of blood pressure medication and a diuretic.  Ace inhibitors can cause dilatation of blood vessels, the same action that the ED drugs can produce.  This dilatation is less pronounced than nitrate medication which is used for heart disease, but it still does occur.  This action raises the chances that your blood pressure could drop more than expected with the use of the ED medication.

Though the diuretic is not a problem for the use of the ED medication, it brings up an important point.  Diuretics, especially thiazide diuretics which are contained in the preterax, can cause impotence in some people.  This is something that should also be discussed with your physician.

The bottom line is you need to discuss your ED with your physician.

Specifically: 1. Could the diuretic in the preterax be a factor in your ED?

                       2.  Is it safe for you to have sexual activity?

                       3.  Can the preterax be used with ED medication in your situation?

I hope this has been helpful.  Best wishes.
