mazzielou,   Thanks for your question.    The normal range for heart rate (pulse rate) is 60 - 100.  So, as you can see, 101 is just above normal.  The blood pressure reading you describe is normal.  But the issue is not what textbook normals are, but what is normal for you.  You need to schedule an appointment with your phsycian for a history and physical examination.  This will verify your readings and also screen you for possible underlying conditions that could influence these readings.    There are several causes of fast pulse rates, most of which are not serious.  Your doctor will determine if your blood pressure reading is appropriate for your situation, as well as evaluating your heart rate.    Best wishes.   Martin Cane, M.D.
