Q: what causes a no value glucose reading - taken by blood

Hi Julie:

 

I actually have not seen this reading before. To me it sounds like an error reading, maybe it didn't have enough blood to get a reading, which can happen often if not used properly.  Every glucose meter reader is a little different though. If you still have the owner's manual I would look to see if it shows that reading in there and what it means.  If not there usually is an 1-800# to call with each glucose meter.  If not, try contacting your pharmacy in which you purchased this item and they may be familiar with your device.

Also, most glucose meters have a range in which it will read. If it is too low or too high it will not get a reading. Most devices will say "high" or "low" if it is out of range. I'm not sure if this is what may have caused your "no value" reading.
