Q: bp or anxiety

im 22 yrs old. i recently discovered at a company medical that my bp was over the normal 140/80 then i went to see a doc he checked and gave me clonazepam and my bp came down from 160/90 to 120/80 so im wondering whether it is bp that i have or just anxiety induced fluctuations. i stopped the med n chkd again for 2-3 weeks it was around 170-180/90 but the clonazepam brings it down quickly and i dont have any panic attacks. ive never had a panic attack in my life so whats my problem?

The answer may be both! See ahis rticles on the web or read Samuel Mann's book Healing Hypertension to see the relationship between emotions and hypertension in some patients. These patients are often treated with either antihypertensive drugs, antianxiety or even antidepressants, and sometimes all three. They do not necessarily exhibit typical panic attacks but may be caused by repressed emotions or labile emotions.
