    Hello Alvaro Cruz,

Your blood pressure is quite high and needs to be addressed soon.

Very high blood pressure is concerning in the short term because it can cause damage to other organs.  Commonly affected are the kidneys and the brain.  If you are experiencing dizziness, new weakness, or headaches these signify your brain may be affected by your blood pressure.  Likewise, if you notice a significant decrease in urine output, your kidneys may being damaged by high blood pressure.  There are other significant and serious complications of acutely high blood pressure.

Definitely call your doctor tomorrow and let him know how high your blood pressure has been.  He will want to see you and likely increase your blood pressure medication.  If you have any of the above signs or any other new symptoms of illness, then you need to visit the emergency department immediately.

    To your health,

    Neil MD

Recently and normally my blood pressure is 130/80, but today it was 178/90.  I am very slim, aged 63, very healthy and lead a reasonably sedentary lifestyle.  Why do you think my blood pressure suddenly shot up.  I had quite a peaceful day and do not feel stressed or unhappy about life.
