I have been having weird fluctuations in my BP and pulse- sometimes my BP is 160/90 and I get dizzy and feel sick to my stomache.  Then other days It's really low with 86/58 and pulse of 128.  I have had a "fluttering" feeling from the inside of my leg with wamth and swelling and painful calf.  Is this just due to old age or do I need to see a dr.  I'm 43 and a woman.  (and this is NOT in my head.)

bluebird,

Thanks for your question.  First of all, you are not old, and age is not a reason to experience your symptoms.

My first concern is your leg, which needs to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.  It could be an injury of your muscle, but I am concerned about the possibility of deep vein thrombosis which is the presence of clot in the veins of your leg.  Another possible cause is an infection.  Should this be a clot, then you need to be treated quickly because of the risk of the clot breaking off and traveling to your lung.  This may sound alarming, but the information in your question raises this concern.

Concerning your blood pressure and pulse changes: there is an outside chance this is related to your leg problem, or it may be a separate issue that needs to be looked into.  This is another reason for you to see a physician soon.

Best wishes.
