Q: my mother is 84 yrs old and had a stroke 7 yrs ago. Recentler doctor has her medication but after 2 wks it is still high.

Her doctor has increased her medication which has not helped. What can cause this constant elevated pressure?

Hi Ann,

 

It can take time and some trial & error before the right blood pressure medication dosage is determined. In some cases it takes more than one type of medication to control blood pressure. I recommend continuing to monitor her blood pressure regularly and consult with her physician. Ask questions so you know the physicians plan, such as how long does he/she plan to try just this medication? If her blood pressure isn't controlled, when would a different medication or medication combination be tried, etc?
