Q: my blood pressure varies by 20 points in my left arm 120/90 right arm is 140/100

This has happened on my last 2 dr. appts.  in Nov 2008 and Jan.2009.  I do not have pain

in either arm.  I have had a dull ache deep in my chest just above my left breast. What do you think? This pain is not constent.

Hi Judy,

Consult your physician. It is normal for blood pressure to fluctuate between arms, probably slightly higher in your dominant arm. However, the difference is usually less than 10 mm Hg. Higher differences is an indication of heart disease and warrants an evaluation by your MD.
