Q: I run a normal BP rate of 145/80, but when my blood pressure is in the normal 120/60, I feel tired and sometimes dizzy. when it is extremely high 150+/90+ I feel more energetic. why is this?

I am now taking 2 BP meds and one to slow and control my heartbeat. Statins and high colestral med and carry nitroglycerin.  I have frequent heart burn and acid reflux, took NEXIUM, but only OTC pills for nausea really help.  I feel good other than exhaustion and insomnia.

Hi Ivy,

Symptoms of hypotension include dizziness and sleepiness. It could be that your system is more sensitive to blood pressure lows, so a drop to normal/lower levels is causing problems. I recommend discussing further with your doctor to determine the cause and an appropriate blood pressure goal for you.

All the best,

thanks for the answer.  I know the DR wants to keep my BP @ 120/60 and I believe the key question should be "what is my NORMAL BP"
