According to a new study, the cholesterol-lowering drug Crestor cuts the risk of stroke nearly in half in seemingly healthy people. In a trial that involved more than 17,000 patients, researchers found that 33 people who took Crestor had a stroke over the five-year study, compared to 64 of those who received a placebo. The drug appeared to prevent strokes causes by clots that block blood flow in the brain. The study was funded by AstraZeneca, which makes Crestor.
