A diet designed to lower blood pressure--called the DASH diet--also lowers the risk of heart failure for women, researchers say. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet is rich in fruit, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains. it is also low in sugar and saturated fats. In a new study, investigators looked at data on 36,000 women ages 48 years to 83 years old who did not have heart failure.
