A new drug that combines Actos with an angiotensin receptor blocker called TAK-536 has entered into Phase III clinical trials in the United States, Takeda Pharmaceuticals has reported. The drug is designed to control both glucose levels and hypertension in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Approximately 60 percent of patients in the U.S. who have diabetes also have hypertension.
