A study of more than 700 residents of Anniston, Alabama has found that people with higher levels of chemicals known as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were much more likely to have high blood pressure. PCBs were once used in many products, but they have been banned in the United States since 1979 because of fears they caused cancer and other health problems.
