Officials with the International Society of Hypertension in Blacks are calling for earlier and more aggressive intervention for the black community, since high blood pressure is such a serious problems for members of this community. The officials called for a lowering of the threshold at which black patients would start treatment for high blood pressure, as well as a rapid movement from single-drug to multi-drug therapy if the first-line treatment is ineffective.
