    Tracy,

This is a great blog for all IBDers to read. I'd not had a drop of alochol for the first 8 years after being Dx'd with UC. Then a couple of years ago I had a small glass of red wine and was okay. Now, I can have one or two glasses of wine per week, or even a beer on occasion. But you are so right in that moderation and listening to your body is KEY.

I also read an interesting column in this weekend's Wall Street Journal about mixed drinks. Many mixed drinks are prepared with pre-made "mixers" and these mixers are filled with sugar and high fructose corn syrup which can be a trigger for many people with IBD. We spend a lot of time being very judicious about how our food is prepared but sometimes forget to consider how what we're drink - both non-alcoholic and alcoholic - is prepared.

    Thanks!

    Elizabeth
