My grandfather suffers greatly from C. diff and the only thing to have provided real relief over the years has been the Saccharomyces boulardii probiotic. http://www.optibacprobiotics.co.uk/shop/item.asp?itemid=13 he now takes this on a daily basis and every day I thank God that he is feeling better than he was before. I must admit that before this experience I was not a believer in natural, alternative medicine, yet since understanding my grandfathers pain (and indeed, the true relief of pain that he feels with boulardii), I have developed much respect for some of these more natural supplements and solutions.
Hi Janice,
I'm so happy to hear that your grandfather is finding relief from his C-Diff with probiotics.
Probiotics is just that fancy name for "good gut bacteria" and while they may bought in the health food store they really aren't anything new or holisitc. They are a part of our body and we need to keep them replenished. Any of us who have ever taken an antibiotic can benefit from taking probiotics, not just people who get C-Diff. You can't overdose on them, and they only do good for the body - at least in my own experiene and opinion.
My best to you and your grandfather,
Elizabeth
