ACT TODAY! To Save IBD Research Spending

  • I am a member of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), the only organization in the United States solely dedicated to finding a cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease and enhancing the lives of those of us who live with either Crohn's disease of Ulcerative Colitis on a daily basis.

Today, CCFA sent word that the U.S. House of Representatives approved a spending bill (HR1) for fiscal year 2011 that will cut more than $60 billion from certain domestic discretionary programming. If passed in the Senate, this legislation will be devastating to many federal health care agencies that provide critical support to the IBD Community.

This legislation proposes cutting $1.6 billion from the National Institutes of Health, $242 million from the Food and Drug Administration, and $1 billion from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

To make your voice and opinion heard about saving IBD research go to the link below to write to your Senator today. The Senate will vote on this exact bill, HR1, next week. If your voice is heard and the bill fails, then the Senate will most likely develop a less aggressive fiscal year 2011 spending bill, meaning fewer cuts to important healthcare programs that could support IBD and its research.

Please take 5 minutes today, right now, to tell your Senator to vote "No" on HR 1.
