Ha, both of those options sound completely disgusting to me... but I would definitely be up for trying them if the need (and more positive research results) arose!  Thanks for the information!

Hi Ali,

I agree, they are gross, but much of IBD is pretty gross anyway! Just never know where the answer to all this might be hidden.

Hope you're well,

Hi Candace,

I don't have any newer info. on the bugs. But, wanted to ask - have you tried other medications for your UC like Asacol, Pentasa, Rowasa, etc.? Imuran, which is in the family of 6-Mercaptopurine (Purinethol) drugs suppress the immune system slightly and can reduce bowel inflammation. However, they make you more susceptible to infection and you should be closely monitored while on them.

If you have the choice, I'd go with trying other medications first. But, that's just my opinion.

Best,

Elizabeth

I have c-difs and have had it now for 10 weeks.  My doctor mentioned this but I thought it was gross at the time and that it would be done rectally.  At this point I would try anything.  this is so gross though.  I wonder if you are asleep when they do this.  If not, I don't think I could do it.
