    Hey Barbara,

Thanks for your question. This is actually a site for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and not Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). There are some important distinctions between the two. While the symptoms can appear to be similar the two are in fact very different. Here are some more resources on IBS and the differences between IBS and IBD:

    Guide to IBS

    IBD vs. IBS

That being said, diet is an important factor in managing symptoms of both IBD and IBS. It's important to figure out what foods cause YOU problems. Trigger foods are not the same for everyone. You may find keeping a daily food diary helpful in pinpointing the foods that cause problems for you.

I have suffered from ibs and colitis for 3yrs now, On the ibs side you know its wrong

when your stomache starts growling!. I suffer big time from ibs, im a bad case and have ben hospitalised for it. It was so bad i just had to change my diet and iv done every detox possible. before I figured out what caused the ibs I lost 25lbs.

Im a healthy eater now, i also tried every natural item available for years, Im like a regular at the health food store. I ll share some things to try and things to stay away from. Keep in mind if eating or drink something and your stomach start growling then stay away from it.

The must nono's: Cabonated anything!, no soda no fountain drinks at all, that cabonation will tear your bowls up.

No citrus period, this was a tough one for me tougher than skipping the soda cause i eat alot of fruits, you can try some good apple juice every once and a while but watch it, No OJ that does it big time, no tomato juice These are high in some acid count and it does it for me every time, I do drink some apple juice now that my ibs has settled down.

No dairy, well stay away fro it as much as you can, i do drink lactade free milk daily it is called Lactaid, milk is not what it used to be anymore. stay away from icecream and just junk foods in general.

No spicy Foods, those will do it every time. This is hard to stay away from especially when eating out but you gotta do it, no Pepper or anything like that.

If you can do that you will see a big difference, no citrus, no spicy foods, no cabonation.

I would go to the health food store and try some Aloh vera juice, that stuff has no many good things in it it helped me recover, it does have citrus in it it seems and can irritate your stomach but i drank it to simply try anything and that juice has tons of benefical microbs in it.

Now that i eat healthy every thing i put in my body im gonna know the results of it quickly. you shoould too. hope that helps
