    This is an excellent explanation of the extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) of IBD.  Most poignant, perhaps is the statement that the arthritis symptoms may be evident for years before the actual IBD comes to light.  That was certainly the case for me and I have often wondered about the seemingly frequent diagnoses of fibromyalgia in people shortly prior to their being diagnosed with IBD.  Is that a coincidence or is what is being dubbed fibromyalgia perhaps the arthritis/arthralgia associated with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis?
