About 400,000 people in the U.S. live with Crohn's Disease making the disease the second most common inflammatory disease after Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Women are at a slightly higher risk of Crohn's Disease than men while people of Jewish, Scandinavian or European decent have dramatically higher rates of Crohn's and other forms of IBD than the general population.  Crohn's also occurs more often in city dwellers and people who are left handed.
