Emotional Impact
The physical symptoms of IBD are difficult enough to deal with without adding the emotional stress and trauma that any chronic illness can bring. Patients who are diagnosed with IBD are at a higher risk of depression and anxiety. Support groups and online communities are available to help patients (especially the newly diagnosed) deal with the emotional impact of their condition.
