Colon Resection Surgery

At a Glance

Colon resection surgery is a procedure that removes part or all of the large intestine. This type of surgery is used to treat serious conditions, such as colon cancer, or other conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis or actively bleeding artereovenous malformations. Although this is major surgery, preparing for your surgery, communicating with your team of doctors and establishing a network of support will help you get back to your normal routine.
