I was recently diagnosed with crohn's disease and am currently experiencing a flare. I want to avoid the hospital. Does anyone have any tips for handling a flare at home?

Hello,

I have UC instead of Crohn's but whenever I feel a flare-up coming on I call my doctor immediately to consult with him on the best course of action to take to keep it an a manageable level. I recommend you call your doctor today to discuss your symptoms and his or her suggestions for treatment.

Good luck,

Elizabeth

Calling the doctor should be your absolute first step.  While waiting for the appointment I also try to:

- make my diet as bland as possible,

- eat smaller meals and more water.

- exercise, light exercise, not vigorous, just to get my heart rate up and help food processing.

- try and get rid of any work stress (and stretch more).

- play with my kids -- they make me laugh which helps my mood!Laughing I hope you have someone who helps you do that too!

You need to stop sitting down when you release your outproducts.  Years of sitting down instead of squatting cause this and other conditions.  The "Doc" will give you meds.  If you want a CURE, change to squatting.  That's right, a cure.

Not much you CAN do.... I have it too.

Right now I'm having a flare up as well....

And it's PAINFUL. Soooooo sick.

I go in my room and turn out the lights and close the door.

You have to give yourself time to get over this. Pushing yourself won't work.
