Q: From time to time I get a sharp pain in my upper right abdomn area

I have been diagnosed w acid reflux and I am wondering if this can travel to that area at all. The pain gets better w numerous things such as moving postions, going to the bathroom, and eating. However I am currently waiting on a ultrisound of my liver, as the Dr says it is "slightly" inflammed. Could this any liver/gallbladder/pancreas problems?? To my knowledge it is not nessicarily every day either...Any info would help. Thank you.

Hi Just Wondering,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, abdominal pain is a non-specific symptom and there are oodles of reasons it can happen from what we've eaten, to acid reflux, to exercise, posture, etc.

You're doing the right thing to discuss this with your doctor and get further tests. If you can, keep a journal and write down when the pain comes, what you've eaten previously that day, how you feel otherwise, and any other relevant informtion that could help you or your doctor zero in on what is causing the problem.

Regards,

Elizabeth
