Q: Any ideas? for severe abdo cramps/diarreah??... any1.. anythin?...

Back in may 2004, i had a bad fall from a horse and suffered severe head injuries and swelling around my brain. Since then, and after amounts of rehabilitation etc, I have since then suffered a problem with my digestive tract/food in general.. After all i was on a feeding tube for 8weeks.. However, since then, no matter what I eat, from toast with honey to a roast, it decides haalf way through that I need to rush to the toilet and spend coupious amounts of time in there and waiting for the next 'outburst' of the runs. I can barely and hardly go out anywhere anymore, and am turning 19 in a week. I cant even go on a 20 minute drive to see and feed my horse, without having i guess "paranoia" in the back of my head of "what if i need to goto the toilet while im at the horses?.. theres no toilet here and am not doing 'that' behind the shed"... I have tried everything.. literally everythin. u name it, ive tried it.. and still NOTHING. I've had scopes (both ends) numerous amounts of times, with 2nd, 3rd opinions and still nothing shows up. Now which I am basically being "accused" by the doctor/specialist that its all in "my head". I am over it and am over trying literally everything from prescription drugs to over the counter to herbals to the works. As a result of this "stomach issue".. I cant keep a meal down without halfway thru it, runnin to the toilet and being however long to basically "clean out" my system. Any ideas or suggestions as to what else in this world i can do to try and get rid of this gutt issue which is driving me more and more insane and making it even harder to find a suitable employment position. Hope someone out there, anywhere can help me. I look forward to hearing anyones/everyones response/s.

I am not a medical professional and can't diagnose your symptoms, but it sounds very disruptive to your life. If I was in your situation, I'd ask around for the very best gastroenterologist in your area and go see him/her. Write down all your history and questions and get them answered during your appointment. Get a good friend or family member to accompany you for support and to make sure your questions are answered. You may need more tests, or you may need to be on medication.

Meanwhile, read Elizabeth Roberts' book "Living With IBD & IBS: A Personal Journey of Success" (see her Profile on this site for a link) for personal insight into these conditions.

(As a horse person, I can relate to the frustration of wanting to visit your horse, but not being able to. I think horses have healing properties, so you want to be around them as much as possible!) After you've seen a doctor, you may want to look into alternative therapies and lifestyle changes that might benefit you. I got some help from hypnosis, and I know Elizabeth talks about using Reiki (an energy healing technique) in her book. Take heart, there is help for you.
